The German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) has published the new occupational health and safety regulation SARS-CoV-2. It was drafted jointly by the Occupational Health and Safety Committees of the Federal Ministry of Labour under the coordination of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). It entered into force on 20.08.2020 through publication in the Joint Official Journal. The SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Safety and Health Rule specifies occupational safety and health requirements for the period of the epidemic situation of national importance in accordance with § 5 of the German Infection Protection Act.

The new regulation makes the SARS-CoV-2 industrial health and safety standard more efficient, presents measures for all areas of economic life with which the risk of infection can be reduced. Distance, hygiene and masks remain the most important tools as long as there is no vaccination protection for COVID-19. Companies will have to implement these new organisational and personal protection measures proposed in the regulation, acting in accordance with the law. In addition, the supervisory authorities of the Länder are provided with a uniform basis for the evaluation of protective measures in the facilities.

On the BAUA website, the link to which can be found at the bottom of the page, you will find all information on this topic in real time. Among other things, it explains how to disinfect surfaces according to the location and provides a list of the most suitable types of protective masks to deal with the pandemic.
